Indiana Marriage records from the territorial period to the present are maintained at the
county level by the Clerks of the Circuit Court.
Indiana vital records such as Birth and death records from 1882 on are
maintained by local health officials. As county officers hold these materials, researchers
will need to contact the appropriate local official for further information.
The state did not begin to keep vital records until the 20th century: from 1900 for deaths,
1907 for births and 1958 for marriages.
